On this day in September of 2014 the day was cloudy. I still got some photographs.

The sunflower is a yearly flower we grow for the beauty and for the birds. The colorful sunflower above has the tiny black sunflower seeds that contain oils that the big seeds contain, though not as much as the small black seeds.



With the white of the clouds this beauty still has a way of getting attention with its flashy colors!



Of course no garden is complete without the yellow sunflowers!







As you can see I do not cut off the new buds that start growing so the stalks do get top heavy with blooms.

The Sunflowers are a huge attraction for the birds! We do like them to grow along the 6' fence so the Sunflowers when (not if but when), the stalk get to heavy they have a place to lean or we can tie the stalks up to the fence.

2014 was a strange year for weather. The seeds were gobbled up quicker then previous years. We do leave the stalks up all winter long for the birds to use as perches, bedding or to find something usable on them. Then comes the time in springish to start putting the stalks in the mulch machine to add to the soil.



The Sunflower stalks also do well for keeping up the other flowers we grow here. Many flowers in our garden grow tall and get top heavy. The stalks are growing poles for the other flowers to use. Talking about attracting bee's!! All kinds of bee's love the Sunflower! In other posts I write about the BUZZZZZZZ that goes on here during peak growing times!

These are the photographs from this september cloudy day. Someone asked that their be more color, well my flower album is full of color and I have so many more floral photography to show..... I am getting through the 2014 photographs as I can. I do photograph every day. Winter is my slow time. Lets face it , winter time is COLD hahahahaha

Four Oclock Flowers in Bloom

Meet the Four O'Clock Flowers that were blooming here in our garden in the high desert of Oregon!



We placed the big seeds here and there not knowing where they were going to like what spot the best. They bloomed where we could get NO other flower to bloom along with blooming through the fence! We are quite impressed with the growth of these Four O'Clock Flowers!



Water if folks do not understand in the high desert water does not just fall from the sky! One has to provide water and the Four O'Clocks Flowers are not a flower who can go with one poor watering a day in our area! One spot I have a hard time watering. These grew, bloomed profusely however would droop begging for water. Meaning I had to soak that one area more then other areas. The south exposure is a interesting one here at our place.

As some of you who follow me on twitter might be aware my laptop took a dump thus getting used to this new system.





I feel these Four O'clocks are nice to photograph!





When the Four O'clock go to seed you know it! The seeds are big and black and are very easy to pluck off when ready. I am a seed freak for those who do not know this fact. Waste not want not right? Some flowers you do not want to go to seed, I just do not see this with these Four O'clocks.

All in all these Four O'clocks are a keeper in our part of the High Desert! With watering once a day very well, or twice a day. Feeding the soil in which ever manner that works for you, and minimal care these should do great for you too!

I do have more photographs of this day in September just feel these are enough for this post and I do have more photographs of these flowers..... I mean darn I am outside everyday during the blooming season and can not help but take photographs ha!

Gloriosa Daisy Flowers Blooming in the High Desert

Meet the Gloriosa Daisy! Much like the Black Eyed Susan however the Gloriosa has more color!





We looked and looked for seeds and I had to go to the internet to get the seeds shipped to our home to plant.

Several plants with several colors of the Gladiosa Flowers sprang up! These photographs are from September 6 of 2014 in our garden.

As you can see by the photograph above, the Gloriosa Daisy comes in several colors!



The Gloriosa Flowers like the north and the east part of our garden. I did have several blooming late in the year in the South facing part of the garden here in the high desert of Oregon. Most grew well and bloomed well in the north facing.

Because these are so close to the black eyes susan flowers the above flower bloom looks very much like the sister flowers. If you notice the color the black eyed susan does not have?

Variety of Moss Rose Flower Colors

Meet the Moss Rose Flower! This is a species of flower I really do insist on having every year. I like them, I really like them!


The Moss Rose comes in several colors! Here in the High Desert of Oregon we grow these in containers mostly. Why? Well, they tend to like peat moss based soil and more water then some of the other flowers we have. Heck we get that moss growing in the containers with these moss roses! They really like to keep moist roots, and they seam to love the morning , south east location they are in for us. We have put these in the ground where they bloomed and did ok, however I can contain them year after year in the containers!
These might be the only succulents we have ..... need to think on that more? We have tried these in other locations where they did nothing, died out!


The ants love the Moss Roses! The ants place there aphids here and there to milk the aphids. So, spraying with water ever day, twice a day helps this. The flowers dont last long and this might be the issue?? Though the flowers are in full morning sun until noonish too.


The Moss Rose comes in more colors then you can shake a stick at!


The Ross Rose blooms from spring until into the fall some years! They do not grow real tall, though they are prolific bloomers!


You will see more photographs of the Moss Roses for I have not touched many of my 2014 photographs yet! I am working on them, slowly but surely!

Mule Deer Bucks of The High Desert Of Oregon

Meet the Mule Deer Bucks of the High Desert. Guy (my other half), claims I do not show my photographs of the Mule Deer Bucks enough. So, I thought I would show some of the photographs of the Mule Deer Bucks I have photographed here in the High Desert.
The man above I photographed him early one morning not far from our home. As Guy watched with the dogs I did keep such things as a big enough trees in view to get to if anything went wrong, but really these Mule Deer Bucks have never did anything to warrant such caution as say the antelope bucks (some folks want them to be called proghorns since technically they are not a Antelope. Some of us have been raised to call them Antelope).


This man above felt more secure behind the log he got behind then turned to check us out.


This one above was photographed with his doe.


The Mule Deer Buck above has been one of the biggest racks ( antlers), I have photographed to date. This buck was very cautious of me and my camera!! This Buck felt much more secure keeping in the brush. He was a pretty man! His herd was seen several times by us in this area though he did not poss as he did above all the times we have seen him. Most the time he was running off! This day he must of have just curious?


This buck does not have much going on however further along in the season he may?


I just had to snap off this photograph for this is how we typically see the Bucks. He is heading away from us!


I added the shot above in just because it makes me laugh!


I like this photograph , this Mule Deer Buck is just looking so curious and proud. Though as you can see I had to go into the brush for this shot!


I actually had to contain my laughter photographing these Mule Deer Bucks! The one was using the tree to hide behind, but curiosity was getting the better of him!


Sometimes I think the Mule Deer Bucks know what a riffle looks like?? Seeing I have a camera that makes a funny noise they are more curious then anything! Just so long as I do not crowed their personal space everything is cool and they get their curiosity full filled and typically they just walk off from me. Sometimes if I move to fast they too will pick up speed and dart off!


Notice the tree's , landscape in the last two photographs and this one?? These Mule Deer Bucks and more of them were all in one herd traveling together. Made these photographs pretty easy for all I had to do is stay still and they went by me! One after the other, sometimes two walked by... Sometimes these creatures hurt my pride, I mean I am dangerous!! Really I can be!! However the way they just ..... well they act as if I am nothing to be to concerned about, after all I do not have a riffle in my hands. They sure are curious animals!!


Granite we like to go where people are not! Never, ever means people are not hunting!! Guy has the biggest job when we go out and about for he is the one who keeps watch for such things as hunters!! We have been caught in the line of fire and WOW one of the times it was not a great experience! In fact Guy had to yell out. We did wonder if they thought our mastiffs were something?? They are larger then your typical dog, their color could look like a wild animal and we did not have their red shirts at that time the bullets came so close to us. We bought the dogs red shirts just because of this experience of the bullets coming way to close for comfort!


The man above was photographed very early in the morning. In fact so early my camera was screaming for more light!


Another who looks pretty young, in velvet.


All hanging together. This was taken right outside of Madras Oregon.


This one above is one of Guy's favorite photographs. See the bobbed wire there?? Guy had to hold that up for me so I could cross that darned wire without getting caught up in it. I have ripped more clothing on those things! BTW this is public lands, the state rents it out now and again to cattle ranchers, hence the bobbed wire.
This photograph the two were hanging out in the shade. The one is just chilling, while the other is at least standing. The one laying down did get up, though no running was involved. They walk amazingly fast if you have never been around these creatures! Eat, walk,eat , walk, look back at me as if laughing at how slow I was.


This one above is one of my favorite shots. The Ochoco Mountains is a fun place to go if you know where you are! I get lost every dang time we are up there it seams!! Guy knows the Ochoco's pretty well. Thank goodness he has worked and hunted up there.....
Perhaps in a photography sense is why I like this shot? I would have loved to see these men when they were out of velvet!!
I have more Mule Deer Buck photographs, series of photographs etc.. in the Wildlife album. Many does!! Guy claims I would make a heck of a hunter. I am a hunter I tell him, with my camera!

White Lily Flower Bloom

Meet our White Lily Flower that is part of our Lily patch.

Since Guy is home I asked him the name of this Lily to see if he could remember the name for everything has a name. Na he did not remember. We have had this blooming for several years now.

 

I pulled out the lens a little to get a view of the other blooms. The Lily patch gets the butterflies, and the Hummingbirds to them. Not to many honeybees care for the Lily flowers.

I am fond of shadows, the photograph I took above is a example of how the natural light dancing in sink with my Lily flower bloom.

I got the "Blue Screen of Death", on my lap top so being a little to careful with it at the moment waiting on the desktop us old school folks seam to think are more stable then the lap tops. If they are or not? At least I can update it when I need to , unlike the lap top. These photographs are already upoaded from my archive so I do not need to plug anything into the lap top.

I yinged when I should have yanged leaving this floral photography album alone and broke all my links I had out there in the online world, smart right haha!
